Janie B modeling at Alternative Fashion Fest ( Nicky rockets)

I recently modeled for the Alternative Fashion Fest as part of a show they put on at a festival over in NE Wales. I’ve modeled for Alt Fest a few times and love it as they encourage you to be yourself, they stand up for diversity and actually let the models express emotion which is amazing for me.

This time I was modeling the fabulous Nicky Rocket Tees , check the red rather lush. I paired the tee with my faithful Evans Boots, Simply be Skort and Fishnet tights from The Big Tights company.

BTW the Alternative Fashion Fest have their next show at Circo in Liverpool this Wednesday 29th June 2016 from 7pm and its free   – see you there.  Heres the link to the event https://www.facebook.com/events/1721222301478718/  xx

So we are already at Tour date 4 almost half way through our Summer festivals tour with my band Skyeladder.  I cant believe how quickly time is going.

This time we played at Darwen Live a great musical yearly event where theres’ music pretty much ongoing across the Darwen area all over the BH weekend.

This time I choose a decorated jewel black sleeveless vest top from Simplybe and paired it with a black see through tee and also a pair of red pants and sandals from Evans Clothing.

Tour date 3 – 29th April at Steelfest Irlam Festival

What a gorgeously warm day it was over the bank holiday weekend it was super-hot so I took the chance to wear my fabulous white vest top from Yours fashion.  I must stress though I bought this as a plain white vest and had the lips added by the fabulously talented Kevin Bowd  (Boy Georges brother) who provides  most of his brothers hats and jackets.  They also have a label called “b-rude

I paired the lips vest with my trousers from Next and sandals from Evans and also added the totally amazing grey fringed jacket also from Evans made in a faux suede.

I love the versatility of the  jacket , I’ve worn it loads with jeans and linen pants over Spring and can imagine that this could also be a fab jacket that will take be right into Autumn.

Tour Date 2 – 30th April 2016 at the North East Wales Diversity Festival Gig and Ask Fashion

Tour date 2 – 30th April 2016 at the North East Wales Diversity Festival Gig.
Here I am on the outdoor stage with my band Skyeladder, such a fun day and the reaction to our new songs “Mercy” and “Take Me” was amazing.  Thankyou everybody for coming to support us.  As usual with my other posts I am blogging about the outfit I wore ( which by the way in case you are all wondering –  I have bought all of them ) .
So for this gig I wore my ASK fashion flag dress which I absolutely love its made from a stretchy woolen like material which kept me cool all day and is hand made by the lovely Amanda.  Ask fashion is a designer label in the states I met the designer Amanda a few years ago when I was in New York for the Fuller Figure fashion Week shows and raved about her collection.
In order to compliment the dress I paired the look with fishnet tights from The big tights company. Evans cowboy leather boots and a black furry gilet from Evans which I bought years and years ago paired with fishnet tights from The big tights company.
Overall a great look for stage , let me know what you think x.

Scarlet & Jo new retro stuff

So I’ve not been feeling overly well this week and have bit picked up a rather nasty bug. So it was nice to get a name mention from an interview ( link here) I’d completed with Giffi Fields early in the year in the recent Scarlet & Jo blog where they are featuring pictures of bloggers  in the new AW15 collections.

Now one thing I just need to know  – where was my invite Giffi my love, ha ha? https://scarlettandjo.wordpress.com/2015/09/08/paradise-lost-and-regained/

If you follow me on pinterest  https://www.pinterest.com/janiesingermode/ you’ll know I love gardening veggies and flowers. In fact I’ve just put a new flower bed in place and put up lots of hanging baskets I’m really turning into a gardening health freak :0) . I do have some summer items that have flowers on but  I’m really not over-ally girly flowery type person.

I’m certainly not interested in a AW15 collection that has tons of flower prints and girly elegant long ball gowns and maxis.  I’m more a rock type chick with a bit of paisley 70s mixed in :0) .  So I was very pleased to see this tunic, this is definitely one of my favorite looks from Scarlet & Jo modeled via a rather cutsie blogger Mrs Bebe

The garment is described as a keyhole tunic, in monochrome ( black & white)  , it features kimono style elbow length sleeves with a slight flare from the waist. The tunic quite happily sits on the mid thigh or if you are vertically challenged (its a  joke don’t kill me) could sit on or around the knee area.

I’m not aware of the fabric please Giffi let it be silk or a cotton mix ( pretty please)  – hate fabrics made from polyester, they can be so hot.  The tunic anyway to me, seems to  emit tones of retroism, I’d pair it with a gorgeous pair of suede boots, I’d probably add wine colored boots  ( theres some nice ones in Evans currently)  maybe a floppy hat to mix in the 70s theme.   Well I  love it just needs my body in it,  nice tunic Giffi my old chum, keep them coming x.

I also like the pattern and top half on this dress, its a maxi and has the paisley print I love, as its a maxi its not for me but if it was above knee length or just a peplum top I’d be all over it  as I really dig the neckline and sleeves.  I suppose I could cut the bottom off and work my personal magic on it for my style requirements. But then would I offend lovely Giffi and his team mmm probably !.  Instead I’ll ask pretty please for a top or shorter dress in a similar style or a tunic that I can wear with a leather jacket would be super dupa :0) .  The gorgeous girlie in the pic is of course the stunning Mayah  ( sorry darling dont know what your blog name is) .  So out of the AW15 collection I like 1.5 items not bad for me really as I can be super critical.

The stunning Mayah sure knows how to work a maxi.

Thanks for reading ( unless your not then your loss :0) kisses xxxxxxx)

Review of Taking Shape Outfit

I had the pleasure of modelling for the fashion brand Taking Shape at Southport Fashion Show in March 2015.  As part of that show I was gifted a £25.00 voucher which I used to put towards the purchase of a pair of trousers.  The trousers are a jersey material in a mad pattern of blues, blacks and whites, they are a great length I purchased them in a size 18 and I am 5:8 so great for a tallish lady like myself.

After catching the Taking Shape bug  I bought a few other tops including the one in the picture which has a diagonal hem that skims my thigh to knee together with a super chic cowl neck and short sleeves.  The fabric is a black lace semi see through so great chance to pop some colorful underwear underneath I wore green :0) or if you’re shy you could wear a cami. I paired the overall look with some cool sandals from this seasons SS15 at Evans.

I absolutely love this look I wore it recently to a wedding I was one of the photographers, it was such a smart chic and comfortable outfit.  I love it and hope you love it too xx

Plus sized retailers – my pet hates

My wish list of things that I believe plus sized retailers need to sort.

1 – Use cooler fabrics for your garments nylon is so hot.

2 – Bear in mind that we are not all hour glass figured ladies,  for an apple or pear shape having an elasticated gathered waist  just cuts us in half and makes us look fatter.

3 –  Stop with the celebrity collections they look so cheap.

4 – Try using a range of models so we can actually see what the garments look like on a size 20 upwards.

5 – Have more options re garments with sleeves, sleeveless is fine but in summer I don’t want to have to wear a hot cardi/shrug especially when I am abroad on hols.

6 – Also dresses with huge gathered skirts only look good on super slender peeps, I have tried many and just look pregnant in them.

7 – Stop elasticating waists on trousers – we are not that fat you know that we cant do up a button and zip!

8 – Stop mimicking slender fashion and use original and creative ideas to create plus fashion that fits our plus sized bodies.

9 – Elasticating below the bust as a sort of waist line effect makes a lot of people look pregnant. Fine if you are preggies but not good if you are not and plus sized.

10 – Why are there such restricted options for Tall people – do they deserve to have trousers that finish around their shins?  Have they done something wrong to deserve this injustice?

11 – Why are there such restricted options for petite people – the amount of issues I see where an item is just too long and hems and sleeves have to be taken up?

12 – Why is there no standardization between sizes in one shop I’m a 20 another an 18 etc its so annoying.?

13 – If you are happy enough to have a plus sized collection on your website retailers at least be decent enough to put it into your shops as well !

Valentines Day Lingerie

With Valentines day just around the corner I feel the need to whisper or rather shout about some of the gorgeous lingerie that’s currently available.

Rose heartDead right it is , its Valentines so you have the perfect excuse to slip into something smoulderingly hot. With something to suit every size, shape, taste and budget you really can’t go wrong.

So get your wish list out and treat yourself to some of the best in valentines lingerie.

Feminine and Floral:
Current trends I am loving – the beautiful floral designs below are so feminine and simple, just perfect for those nights when you need confidence, support and to feel special.

Valentines Day Lingerie

Evans currently have 35% off all lingerie and cover cups 38B right up to a 50H , with some very pretty floral prints and colors.

Curvy Kate at Evans offers a beautiful range of plus size lingerie in sizes 38-44, D-K cup. They also have their own brand wear site here

Marks & Spencer have always been a firm favorite of mine with their range of silk lingerie, in particular their Rosie collection thats very girly, pink and chicurlicious – check their website for current offers. Not only does silk feel amazing on the skin but its also hypoallergenic, and won’t irritate sensitive skin.

Semi see through and black:
These sexy sets from Yours, Elomi and Marks and Spencers are bound to make your partner go gaga.

Valentines Day Lingerie black

Elomi have a beautiful range in particular I love the black set above a very chic black upon nude called “Bijou Soiree”. Although slightly more than some other sets I have seen I totally believe that sometimes well you just need to spoil yourself :0) . Fingers crossed hubby sees :0)

For the budget conscious , Yours have some great sets ranging from £20.00 at Yours clothing in cute leopard and floral type prints. Kinda cute if you;re into that thing.

What ever your Valentine dreams I hope you have fun and for those alone out there this is just for you .
